Apostolates
In the opening Chapter of the Lay Missionary of Charity Statutes, we find the quote: "Family, become what you are!" (FC 17). The Movement of the Lay Missionaries of Charity is a response of the laity to the universal call to holiness. By living our lives according to the Statutes of the Lay Missionaries of Charity, we strive to fulfill that call, and the call of God himself, to become and to be, Lay Missionaries of Charity - contemplatives in the heart of the world.
Through the Eucharist, and by growth in union with Christ in and through Our Lady,
the Lay Missionaries of Charity are living out that spiritual union in service to the Body of Christ and to the Church. As "contemplatives in the heart of the world" our LMC groups continue to take root, to "bloom where we are planted", and grow.
We do this through a number of active and contemplative apostolates which include:
Community food pantries and soup kitchens
Transitional housing for the homeless
Food delivery to the poor and needy
Medical vans
Transportation of the MC Sisters as well as the homebound
Pro-life work
Prison ministry
Hospice ministry
Parish ministry and catechesis
Holy Communion to the homebound
Prayer ministry for priests and for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life
